Guided Model Rocketry Build Session

Time & Location

Jun 06, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM MST
Gilbert, 1860 E Appleby Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85298, USA

About the Event

The STEM+C crew will conduct a guided build session for your student.  If you are brand new to model rocket building, or an experienced rocket builder, you are welcome to join us.  Because this will be done in my garage (Its Airconditioned), I need to limit this group to 7 students.  I will not take more than 7, because its just too corwded.  The fee for the day is $15.00, this covers the cost of building supplies (glue, epoxy, etc), and rocket motors that we will use at the end of the day when we go fly the rockets (excluding the High Power Rockets).  This build session will lay the foundation for our 2021-2022 TARC, and NSLC teams. (The American Rocketry Challenge, as well as possibly entry into the Nasa Student Launch Challenge)

When: Sunday June 6th, at 3:00pm-7:30pm( we will go fly rockets when they are done building)

Where: 1860 East Appleby Road, Gilbert AZ 85298

Who: First time Builder (6th grade or older), we will help make this first time build a success.  Just pick up a model rocket kit from Hobby Lobby, Rocketry Works or Apogee Rocketry (on-line), Rocketry Works in Tucson, or from Amazon.  Make sure its a beginner kit.

Experienced builders: You are welcome to build a store purchased rocket, or your welcome to any of our parts and pieces to scratch build a rocket, and then we will launch it and see if it actually flys!  You may want to download Rock-sim from the Apogee Rocketry web-site and start playing around with modeling your own design (this is not necessary though).

High Power Rocketry Builders:  We have several students who will be building "High Power Rockets", if you feel that you have enough experience to build a high power rocket and you wish to fly your rocket to get your Level 1 certifcation, you are welcome to join us (minimum age for Jr. High Power Rocketry certification is 14).  Level 1 rocket kits can be purchased at Apogee Rockets on line or from Rocketry Works in Tucson.
